Today I’m at the Red Hill fire tower in the Catskills for a CW POTA activation. The bands have been pretty rough lately, and I knew this activation would probably be a challenge. I hiked up to the tower and set up with my AX1. Little did I know there had just been a big solar flare (there’s no cell service at the summit). I got one call on the AX1, and then decided to put up a 40m EFHW. That got the job done in fairly short order. All in all, it was a fun activation at a fantastic spot. Thanks for watching and 73!
